The author’s objective is to give the reader understanding, i.e. an understanding of what the whole of the New Testament is all about. With that aim in view, he gives the reader a guided tour through the New Testament, explaining the purpose of each book in turn and giving a synopsis of its teaching and the structure of the book.
In this way the meaning of the whole New Testament becomes clearer by examining the parts. As a result the reader will gain a much clearer picture of what God’s purpose was during those seventy years covered by the New Testament.
