In a small but comprehensive compass, the author takes us through the life of Abraham.
Starting with his call by God, he follows him from Ur of the Chaldeees, to Haran, into the promised land and Egypt, and back to Canaan. He considers not only Abraham's justifying faith, but also his backsliding and lapses.
We see Abraham as a soldier and an intercessor, and as a type of God the Father when he is called upon to sacrifice his only son, Isaac.
