Job is the first of the five books of wisdom in the Old Testament. It is followed by Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs. Job is mainly poetry and is thought to be one of the oldest books in Scripture dating back to the times of the Patriarchs – Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Some commentators consider it was collated and edited by Moses, along with the rest of the Pentateuch. Three of the remaining books of wisdom, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs, were written mostly by King Solomon, who lived some 500 years or so after Job, around 1,000 BC.
What do these two man have in common, if anything, other than suffering?
