When the poor, crippled son of Jonathan was brought from the poor town of Lo Debar to Jerusalem, and there made to sit at the king’s table, I am sure that he was amazed, and lost in bewilderment. And when servants of sin, like us, are made saints and joint-heirs with Christ, we too are lost in amazing and wonderful love for our Saviour and King.
There are many parallels which stand out about this poorly prince Mephibosheth, which illustrate vividly the grace of God to us in Christ. Why does the Lord choose such nondescript nobodies, and virtually unknown characters such as Mephibosheth, to shine so brightly throughout the pages of Scripture?
